Thea render farm Pc#
So I configured a complete PC with an OK components + 4 980 TI's, resulting in 11264 CUDA cores. So for how long would we have to pay for their service before it would be cheaper to pay for our own? Since we already charge for rendering, I thought it fair to say we'd set the same rates for our clients using our farm as Render4you does. An animation that would take 125 hours on my 980+760 is estimated to 6,7 hours on their (cheapest) solution. I don't know their Octanebench score, but they claim to have 48384 CUDA cores. I finished my little presentation at work, here's what I found (abbreviated):Ī farm called Render4you does GPU as well as CPU. Right now industry wise octane seems to have the upper hand, but that's because Thea has been mostly just focusing on the architectural market. So they both have their +ves and negatives. it would be very unproffesional of me not to have a back up plan. And i don't like to be in that position with a paying job. so if something happens to their farm you're up shit creek. no other farms can render out your scenes. with v3.0 octane will have render farm support, but you'll only be able to use their renderfarm. On the downside they have a very closed system. similarly hair support in thea is limited to geometry mode, which will slow down with large numbers, while octane i think has proper hair support. Thea is promised to have volumetric support soon as well, but no body knows when yet. And it has a really nice scatter plugin, which is basically like an octane cloner. The new version of octane which is coming out will have support for vdb volumetrics, which will be really cool. But thea is catching up very fast, they now have a dedicated developer or two ( not sure im only in contact with what appears to be one). But from what i see feature wise its a bit ahead of thea ( i follow/talk to a lot of people who use octane).
